Ollie Cox & Zela Papageorgiou
Existing in the liminal space between improvised and composed music, percussionists Ollie Cox and Zela Papageorgiou explore the vast textural possibilities of electroacoustic percussion. The two will be joined by Arabella Frahn-Starkie who will be projecting live visuals.

Ollie Cox is a Melbourne-based drummer, percussionist, improviser and composer. His broad textural palette, sensitivity and creativity at the drum kit has led to him working with some of Melbourne’s finest musical artists. Ollie blends his background as a jazz drummer with explorations in indie folk, art rock and electroacoustic experimental music.

Zela Papageorgiou (she/her) is a Naarm/Melbourne-based percussionist whose practice focuses on contemporary, classical and experimental music. She is an enthusiastic contributor to Melbourne’s music scene, regularly appearing with ensembles such as Speak Percussion and Ad Lib Collective, and is the core percussionist for Forest Collective.

Structures of Change play music inspired by the poetry of Ben Lerner, living close to train lines, and the intersection between friendship and inspiration. This group, led by Iran Sanadzadeh, uses noise spectra as a bed of possibility from which timbres arise. The sounds of the instruments blend and hide within each other’s textures so that the unity of the final texture transcends individual utterances of events. The final goal is to give a sound that is industrial, filthy and a bit cute.

Iran Sanadzadeh
Iran Sanadzadeh is a performer and composer. Her work explores the possible relationships between movement and sound using her set of pressure-sensitive floors. She writes quiet sparse music with the aim of curating attention to details in sound.

Niran Dasika
Niran Dasika is a trumpeter, improvisor and composer based in Melbourne, Australia, known for his distinctive, ethereal trumpet sound and compositions. Niran’s virtuosic trumpet playing and unique voice as a composer and band leader have lead a wide-ranging career around Australia and Japan, where he lived for several years.

Flora Carbo
Flora Carbo is a Naarm (Melbourne) based saxophonist who is quickly becoming one of the most exciting young artists in the Australian jazz scene. Flora’s practice explores the vocal quality of the alto saxophone and the improvisatory and compositional boundaries between genres.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and create, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, as well as to all First Nations communities who contribute so significantly to the life of the area. Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
