Zela is thrilled to be a 2024 -2025 Associate Artist with Speak Percussion!
Speak Percussion’s Artistic Associates contribute towards the creative developments, presentations, recordings and tours within the company’s annual program as either lead artists, collaborating artists or project managers. In 2024 and 2025 Zela will hold this position alongside percussionist Alon Ilsar.

From 2020 - 2022 Zela participated in Speak Percussion’s inaugural Bespoke Artists Program, which supports independent, early-mid career artists and arts workers with a focus on career sustainability. Across this program, Zela received professional development in three key areas; business, career and artistic leadership.
During the Bespoke Artist program Zela led the creation and development of a collaborative work titled Dissipative Structures for 6 percussionists and one electronic artist. The composition was inspired by a 2012 moving image work of the same name by Australian Artist Cameron Robbins, and created to be performed alongside the original work. The premiere of Dissipative Structures took place in June 2022 as part of In Orbit, a showcase of works created during the Bespoke Artist program.
