‘Lattices’ is Jordan Tarento’s debut offering as composer and bandleader, named after the dense, layered orchestration approach used in this collection of 8 original pieces.
Detailed and intricate, these compositions blend elements of jazz, funk, chamber music, cinematic influences, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music, and tie it all together with densely orchestrated harmony, tight, polyrhythmic grooves and soaring melodies.
Following a studio recording in late 2022, Jordan brings together a 6 piece ensemble to launch the album, and support the February 27 release via record label Earshift Music.
“…This is Australian music first and foremost. These works exhibit fresh and evocative approaches to instrumentation and form and they are also heartfelt. This is what is rare. You can feel it. Jordan’s album will make a unique contribution to Australian music, and this new offering is an impressive and confident first statement from a young artist…” -Barney McAll
